Every year the tropical carnaval chooses more then 2000 people who will make the carnaval a big succes : dancers, musiciens, charriots … from all over the world.
This year it will be a real trip around the world when the Carnaval walks from Nation to Porte de Pantin. People from Indonesia, Colombia, Brasil, Notting-Hill but also from Paris itself, will animate the Parisian avenues.
It’s a big feast wih lots of color, music and performances for old and young. This year there will be the first election of the Queen of Carnaval.
Tropical Carnaval, 4th of July, starting 14h at Nation, M° Nation

It’s as if the whole of Paris is having a big party with music everywhere and a lot of people on the streets.
The Fête de la Musique is a free popular fête, open to any participant (amateur or professional muicians) who wants to perform in it. This Music day allows the expression of all styles of music in a cheerful atmosphere. It gives an opportunity to communicate and share a very special moment through music.
The musicians are asked to perform for free, and all the concerts are free for the public. It’s the reason why they are used to play in open air areas as streets and parks or in public buildings like museums, train stations, castles… Furthermore, the Fête de la Musique is a way to encourage the major music institutions (orchestra, operas, choirs, etc.) to perform outside their usual locations.
For a program go to the site, or … a better idea is to “flane” on the streets and let the music bring you at different places.

July 1th le Bouillon Chartier will reopen its doors after major works of the tehnical parts ( kitchen, technical parts, etc).
The waiting wil be over soon. This mytical restaurant (its a historic monument) has been cleaned but will have the same décor so we can still find the real soul of Chartier.
The food will stay the same, very quick service but sometimes it’s to simple. If you order leek as a sidedish, you get a piece of leek on a plate next to your meat. To me it didn’t seem much enjoyable. But it’s told they quality did improve.
Bouillon Chartier, 7, rue du Faubourg Montmartre, 75009 Paris , tel. : +32 1 47 70 86 29 – no reservation – service from 11.30h until 22h.

Every year during the months of July and August a children’s fair takes place at the Tuileries gardens. Photographers and children alike love it.
