The newest hype in retail-land: shopping with a clean conscience. Whenever you buy something part of it goes to the happiness of deprived children in Madagascar.

This store is a big success because of the new concept but also because of the  no-nonsense brands. A former wallpaper factory became a all-in-one shop: flowers – boutique – parfum ( Annick Goutal) – café – restaurant – artshop – second hand bookstore – design.  Big brands of fashion make special pieces for Merci ( American Vintage, Acne, Isabel Marant, Paul&Joe, Mc Cartney, Van Noten, Kris Van Assche ) at smaller prices.

When you buy in this store it gives you a feel good vibe and everybody comes out with a smile on his face and a paperbag from Merci. Maybe the only disadvantage is the location in the thirth arr. at a noisy street.

Merci, 111, Boulevard Beaumarchais, 75003 Paris, M° Saint-Sebastien-Froissart

During weekends there is almost anytime a queue outside the restaurant, but on Sunday evening you can easily get a seat.

This very tasty Indian cuisine is  100% vegetarian. They do specialise in all kinds of bread which comes with tasty sauces and vegetables. Together with a mango lassi ( order one without sugar and a small bill your evening will be a feast. Don’t expect grand cuisine though, this restaurant gives correct fresh Indian food. On the other side of the street they have a place where they serve take a away platters.

The place is on walking distance from the Montmartre Studio Lofts.

This old lightship used to sit in Dun Laoghaire harbour and is now at Quai François Mauriac. This year they are having a party for their 10th anniversary.

Go for experimental and electronic music, plus four bars. They always have events. Specialy in summertime it’s nice to have a party on the water.

Easy to get to by metro.
